TSUNAMI AFFECTED AREAS REBUILDING PROJECT

(TAARP)

The objective of the Tsunami affected areas rebuilding project(TAARP) is to rapidly improve the living conditions and well being of a significiant number of people in the Tsunami affected areas by restoring basic infrastructure,community and public services and livelioods in these areas.

Component

TAARP will address the need of the Tsunami affected people through numerous sub projects in a variety of sectors selected and formulated in response to request from Tsunami affeted persons and the government.

Component E - Southern Province Reconstruction

Cost Estimates:

Grant - $ 21.4 Million

TAARP will receive grant from the Asian Tsunami Fund to be used for rebuilding of infrastructure livelihoods, and related activities damaged or cost as a rsult of the Tsunami catastrophe in South.

Sub Project:

IN COMPONENT E - Will restore livelihoods through cration of jobs for locally based skilled and unskilled labour and reconstruct community and urban infrastructure,which could include, rural roads, culvert,drains,small scale water supply and sanitation facilities,simple solid waste management schemes, village markets(Polas),ayurvedic dispensaries,children parks,Play grounds, community buildings and small scale fisheries related infrastructure such as net repair sheds, fisher rest houses, market/auction halls and cold store facilities, training will be offered for teaching new employment skills.
